Scenic Vintage Train Rides

Scenic train rides on a vintage locomotive are very popular attractions for visitors and guests to the Snowshoe area.  Trains depart from various stations in Pocahontas and Randolph counties.

The nearest station to Snowshoe is the Cass Depot located about 25 minutes from Snowshoe via route 66.  Cass, WV was a company town formed in 1901 by the  West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company.  The site features a small restaurant and gift shop at the station

The Durbin Depot, featuring the Durbin Rocket, is located approximately 45 minutes from Snowshoe via routes 66, 92 and 250.  There is a small gift shop, the Rail and Trail Store, which is across the street from the Depot.

If one is looking for a historic town experience, one could travel north to the Elkins station in downtown Elkins, WV.  Along with the train station, there are many shops and restaurants within walking distance.

Visit the WV Mountain Rail website for schedules and rates.
